On Sunday, March 26th NOW and Quinebaug Valley Youth Lacrosse hosted a free lacrosse clinic at the Woodstock Academy Fieldhouse. The event was open to a broad range of ages with children aged 4 through 14 attending and learning a variety of skills. Over 75 children attended and rotated through stations focused on passing, shooting, scooping, and cradling, as well as stations in yoga and nutrition, led by NOW staff members.

The clinic was supported by volunteer coaches from QV Youth Lacrosse and Woodstock Academy, in addition to over a dozen male and female student athletes from Woodstock Academy. Participants had a chance to put their new skills to the test with a fun shooting competition, after which the Woodstock Academy players demonstrated their advanced skills for the children in attendance.

This was the second clinic hosted by NOW and the regional youth lacrosse organization, which recently changed its name from “Pomfret Youth Lacrosse” to “Quinebaug Valley Youth Lacrosse.” The high number of attendees was a testament to the growing interest in lacrosse in the Northeast region of Connecticut. With Woodstock Academy offering lacrosse teams for both male and female students, the sport is expected to become more popular.

NOW began a partnership with QV Youth Lacrosse in the spring of 2016 and offers scholarship assistance for qualifying families. Those interested in applying for scholarship assistance are encouraged to complete NOW’s “We Pay. You Play” submission located on the top of the NOWinMotion.org homepage.
