NOW is dedicated to physical wellness and educating every child in the key disciplines of fitness and nutrition:

  • Age-appropriate strength training
  • Cardiovascular training (heart health)
  • Core stability, balance and flexibility (Stretching)

These components are essential elements of a well-balanced fitness and sports program. Our goal is to teach 21st Century fitness skills to Quiet Corner children in a warm and welcoming environment, where we train with a sense of fun and enthusiasm. Fitness enhances individual athletic performance and builds self-confidence just as it provides the foundation for success in team sports. In addition, quality fitness training reduces the potential for injury. At NOW, we care about ensuring healthy and safe athletic participation at any age. We believe that as children grow into adolescence and young adulthood, good fitness habits are the building blocks of life-long fitness.

MEET OUR TEAM

Since our founding in 2011, NOW has been governed by an all-volunteer board of directors from across the 10-town area of northeastern Connecticut. Our programs are made possible through their support, as well as the hard work and dedication of our executive director and program facilitators.

SUPPORT OUR MISSION

Northeast Opportunities for Wellness, Inc. (NOW) is a non-profit (501-c-3) human service organization dedicated to providing opportunities in youth wellness, regardless of access to financial resources.

We are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of youth in the Quiet Corner by insuring each child’s access to social, emotional, and physical wellness.

NOW was founded in 2011 by an all-volunteer board of 20 directors from a 10-town area in Northeastern CT. The organization owes its vision and energy to its founders, the Rawson family of Putnam, who have always believed that youth athletics provide a real and lasting foundation for life-long success.

This would not be possible without the support of local businesses, organizations and community members like you! Your donation of time, funding or resources can make a real difference in the health and happiness of local children.
